If you are just getting started with a ListView, do yourself a favor and have a look at ObjectListView .
If you want more flexibility, I would switch levels of granularity .
ListView (in winforms) is tied to the win32 control.

In order to allow this you need to set
yourListView.LabelEdit = true;
This defaults to false so you need to explicitly turn it on to allow users to edit the labels .

Currently I use a custom sorter on the listview, and i can sort the listview each time i click on the FIRST column, but it won't sort by other columns.
