I am really trying to watch spending on everything, including homeschooling. I think we're to the point where I have so much stuff at hand that I'll only need crayons, coloring pencils (both of which we go through like crazy), paper, and maybe new dividers...

We just started SOTW1 in January as well....
I will definitely have to add on more ETC books for the girls but they are less than 10 dollars and then we will be using library books .

What is common is people are on a pension not live in VIC or WA.
Winter in Otago are a miner with a lease or happy to live on very little.

Luckily we live in a fairly low cost area.
Live in an area of high growth (like an oil patch ) and living expenses will be more.
My point is, it makes a difference where you live.
