Hello all,
I am trying to replicate a feature of GMail in my own application.
When changing folders in GMail, the display will stay on screen and a small loading banner will appear on the top of the site.
This is desirable, since it prevents the screen...

This happens in both Firefox 3.5 on Windows and 3.0 on Ubuntu. I load up gmail and it scrolls down a few inches.
I have no idea why this happens but it is very very annoying. Anyone know why?

Do you have a number of emails that extend past the bottom of the page? Google implements a technique that only loads a certain number of emails at first and, when you scroll down the page to view more, it fetches more emails from the server.

I have an email with Google Apps for Domains. It loads fine in every other other browser, but not IE8. First it will sit there with the non-moving progress bar, saying Loading blah@blah.com.
Then after about 30 second or so, it'll say:

Try disabling all add-ons, in Tools -> Manage Add-ons.
Telling NoScript to allow everything on the site restored it .
Do you have Javascript turned off? I had a similar issue in Firefox when I had NoScript running and blocking the google pages .

Now here is the weird part I discovered: the gmail account only freez on my account.
Instead of freezing immdieatly when I go to gmail, it allows me to enter my username/pass, and freezes plugins, problem still exists.

EDIT: As the commenter said below, you could decipher gmail's obfuscated the appropriate javascript function....
I use gmail chat both within a gmail window and using Adium, and when a friend initiates a chat.

The title says it all, really -there are other sites that it happens with too. Just wanted to know if there is any way to fix this - and I have tried re-installing a new copy of FF.
