Is on the M25 ringroad 20 odd miles outside central London .The transfer from Heathrow to Southampton will be via motorway and bypass London
to take the Heathrow express train into London is at least.

For once it might be a case to consider the Heathrow Connect ( don't use the even more expensive Heathrow Express....
The OP will be heading out from Central London the same direction.

Actually it seems like taking the piccadilly line from heathrow isn't a bad idea.

All airport shops (at least Term 3) are closed at 11:00 .
Also, I've taken that same ORD-LHR flight many times for London trips.

Heathrow Express operate a free shuttle train service between Terminal 4 and Terminals 1-3, with 4 trains a hour.
