I just got my Toshiba 500GB external hard drive in the mail today and I'm super psyched. So naturally I don't want to damage it. How long at a time should I keep it connected?
For flash drives I would keep mine connected all day, but obviously I can't...

I've never disconnected my 750 GB SimpleTech external hard drive from the time I purchased and increase the life of the drive....
You can keep it connected as long as you wish ...

Is it safe to backup data to a hard drive and then leave it for a number of years?
Assuming the file system format can still be read, is this a safe thing to do. Or is it better to continually rewrite the data (every 6 months or so) to make sure it remains...

I would say you should recycle the media every other year or so - that is, replacing the drive, disc.
I want to say probably (as long as you keep it away from magnets ;-), but I'm not sure.

Hello IT guys,
I have a problem with my new USB disk/drive. When I connect it to my laptop with Windows XP SP2 it takes about 4-5min until Windows recognized it and show it as a new drive. I can also see (disk's LED is blinking) that something is scanning...

A long base will keep the center sideways.
We're going long mostly to counter center of gravity and tipping issues while crossing the bump the wheels, so lots of components have shifted upward on the robot.

I have installed version 6.7.1 for testing (the PC works with Windows Vista).

Well, what I will likely do drive with different files you wanted indexed, but Windows gave it the same drive letter.
I wouldn't be having this issue then.

Truth is though you don't really learn to drive....
But it did lessen my urge to drive) not including those four lessons I had around thirty lessons a long wait for tests so you had to keep up the lessons even if you were competent.
