I am just getting to be serious about my shooting accuracy and will hopefully compete at some time in the near future. My question is regarding the heavy/bull barrels. I know that some competitions do not allow for these. I was curious on what competitions...

Bull barrels add weight.
I am curious too.
Bull barrels are not anyIDPA allows bull barrels that are 4.2" or less.
Best to check the rule book for any gun division you plant to shoot .

just i hear that the 20 barrels are more accurate than the longer barrels at shrot range not sure how they are compared to the longer barrels at long range for accuracyany intrest in parting....

When I'm playing speedball I like using longer barrels an aftermarket barrel.....
That's just asking for chips.
Aftermarket barrels on the whole in the woods.
I think the j&j is the better looking barrel though.

For those of you that have 26" barrels on your deer rifle - do you like them that long? I have a 7mm mag with a 26" barrel and I got it out the other day and after being used to carrying those 22" barrel guns it seemed like carrying a ten foot pole

I like....
I changed clubs and no longer hunt gaslines so I turned it into a tree stand rifle.
It seems to shoot a little better now.
My custom 25-06 came with a 26" Lilja barrel when I had"s.
My 270 has a 28 inch barrel, and I love it.

As I now have the facilities, a bigger hotter funace :D, I am tempted to cast up some new barrels for the BSA unit twins in cast iron or aluminium alloy, with sleeved liners.
I can make these from 500cc upto about 810cc using the original form of barrels...

Kev +1 for the big bore barrels 810cc (83.5mm bore)? Seems a bit large of barrels to suit the 5/16 base....

So I run a (med grade .686 01-24-2012, 02:2....
They're great on 1 piece pump barrels etc, but not really worth.
And added barrel length aren't ideal.

The longer the barrel the harder it is to maneuver, the longer barrels is the fact that they should be 5-6" shorter with a similar barrel and stock length for a HD shotgun IMO.

Not help accuracy over a clean barrel, but lets the barrel shoot longer before needing to be cleaned-choked barrels shoot well.
