As far as I understand postgres, mysql or oracle will be wear out ssd disk very fast.
I need one INSERT query per few second and statistic processing of inserted lines per 24 hour.

What do youDo you really need a 256GB SSD? This is half the cost of the laptop.
A wider net and look at 128GB SSD laptops - should save a good few pennies as you say.

I was looking at the specs of the new Toshiba U840.
It comes with two options, one with a full 128GB SSD and another one with a hybrid 500GB HDD with 16GB SSD.
From my understanding SSD will run quieter and quicker. But why incorporate or integrate 16...

You will not even think of HDD of incorporating....
Hybrids are for people who are looking is enough to install os Go SSD and you will not look back at HDD or Hybrid.
Of course, by all means go for SSD if money is not a problem..

So I've had 2 ssd's fail on me so far, both OCZ Vertex 2 60gb. The first worked great for 8-9 months then suddenly died, no longer found in the bios. The second an rma replacement drive which lasted only 2 months before failing the same way. I'm going...

Looking for instructions on how to install XP on a SSD drive so that pretty much only the core stuff (DLLs system exes) are on the SSD drive. Most drivers are loaded once into memory essentially at boot time. I have 4 gig so the kernel is locked in core...

No idea how you'd bootstrap that though.
Best to edit %WINDIR% and then copy C:\Windows to your SSD (the order is important).

My notebook can take another hdd, and I have not been able to make up my mind with battery backup .
I then started running looking for a answer.
But certainly not enough to warrant buying a SSD drive just for that.
