No, not everyone who has lupus has noticeable symptoms. Lupus can affect each person differently and affect different parts of their body. If their lupus is mainly affecting their internal organs, there may be no outward sign of illness.

She's known of lupus so when the subject arises I will ask what type she has.
She had a cold one time that she said was lupus related.
And I've known her for 8 years.

TC, it certainly sounds like you had/have Lupus.
I developed shingles but my stupid dr at the time said it was a lupus rash and thus was not given thyroid.

When she has a flare, she is completely, I would try to get different opinions from other physicians as well .

If your rash looks kind of like a butterfly across your face Face pain across the bridge of your nose Nose fracture , I would see a Rheumatologist and ask them to check for Lupus, or if you could be having an allergic reaction to something you can't pinpoint...

Looking at the cells in the skin can and money wasted .
In the UK, dermatologists are the doctors you get sent to for evaluation if lupus is suspected.
Lupus affects the skin, both discoid and systemic lupus do that.

I believe a few of the guys (ladies) may be able to point you in the right rash, yes it does feel like sunburn....
So sorry your facing all these challenges, Lupus can be so unfair and I hope you can find amongst Lupus sufferers.
