I want an MS Paint like program for GNOME.
GIMP is too much for me. I find it very frustrating for the simple tasks I do (adding text, arrows and circles to screenshots to highlight different features of a program).

There's no way doing
Try searching your registry for 'BMP' and/or 'paint' is it could be a registry setting.
In this case, unfortunately, they are hard-coded inside the MS Paint executable.

Right click in a text field....
When using the text tool, a toolbar should appear which will let you change the font .
Looks like you're using Wingdings or some other crazy font .
Change the font face.
You have a symbol font, Wingdings or Webdings I believe .

You need to handle MouseDown, MouseUp, and keep track of when you start and stop dragging your selection rectangle .

If you have MS.
It's called the "Photo Printing Wizard" in XP, there are many programs a lot more capable for doing what you want than MSPaint .
The need for MS Paint or any other graphics program.
