What I suspect your friend is trying you use Windows Live Mail instead of MSN Explorer (which hardly anyone uses nowadays!).
MSN Explorer has fallen out of the circuit many years ago.

Why are you "supposed" to remove it? Removal of MSN Explorer 9.x would be via
the Control Panel add or remove programs.
