It works perfectly fine up to the F#-chord....
You're using.
This is the same method I teach - it just works .
Method to barre is inefficient, especially if you want to quickly change from major to minor, or sus2, sus, major 7 or whatever.

A plain "6th" on either a major or minor chord will be a major 6th: F# in this case.
