You can use UIActivityIndicatorView....
When you don't need it, just call dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: method.
You can create some viewController class to represent your waiting screen logic, then just use presentModalViewController:animated: method to show it .

I need to mockup some very simple games.
Most of them involving three actions: typing on a textbox, dragging (reordering) boxes, and a countdown timer that you can punch. They are two-person games, where any player can punch the clock if they finish typing...

NASA probably makes its own video games because if it let one of the big companies do it, you'd have moon missions that need day one patches and be required to buy an online pass to visit the space station.

Depends on your? Is the type of games you want to make hinging on certain innovations or features that require pretty.
Even Flash games would be a better alternative to Game Maker.
