I've no clue what "surf canyon" is but if it's installed on your PC and you want it gone use Revo Uninstaller .
Yet another excellent reason to ditch that miserable piece of garbage "internet explorer" and use Firefox and/or Chrome .

Tools > Manage Add-ons, right click "Name" header and enable the "In Folder.
Suggest testing these things in a vmware.

PROBLEM

How do I disable add-ons? I have message at bottom of screen "speed up browsing by disabling add-ons. Then to the right options seem to be either - choose add-ons or ask me later or don't disable.
