Changes that you make in the master document only apply to it.
If you want all the text that is styled Header 1 in the master document and the subdocuments in the template.

I have created a book using OpenOffice's Master Document facility.
I contains five chapters.
Both the Master and the Chapters have been created using the same style template.
The Chapters have used separate First Page and later pages Styles and work appropriately...

Not sure in the subdocument and you have the same style (same name) in the master document but with red color it will show....
Typically the master document has the same paragraph styles as the sub-documents.

What you really want is a merge strategy theirs to is resetting master to point....
Do this with the 'ours' merge strategy:
git checkout branch git merge -s ours master
But this doesn't you want is to get the same contents onto master .

How do I insert a text section into a master document.
The tutorials say to use "insert>text" in the Navigator but the only options under "Insert" in Navigator are Index, File or New Document.
