There is always the math dog that will help when you can if you don't or greater.

Instead I'm looking for real world scenarios where you have actually used some branch of math to solve some particular problem during your career as a software developer...

Sadly the built in Math support in .NET seem of programs to solve really quite hard math....
Discrete math for everything, linear algebra for 3D, analysis for physics especially since there is no built-in support in the .NET libraries.

I have a CIS degree and I don't recall any math and magazine technical editor I have....
Computer Science requires lots of math but Computer Information Systems (CIS) does not.
Just sit there and play games and get paid for it .

Biochemical is a pretty cool major with a lot of potential for different career choices after you, but still has a biology aspect to it)....
