I think you should choose problems within the scope of her curriculum and capabilities, wherever that is. For example, the suggestion you gave is fine if she would have covered a little bit of basic number theory, and in particular, if she is capable of reasoning from definition whether an integer is odd or even.

How about you get your PhD because if you move and the job turns out to not be all you hoped it to be then what? You probably have a good idea about what getting your PhD is all about.

Buying from the USA?
I gather that going over to the states and bringing equipment back is not an exact art. Some have done it to great success, some have saved nothing due to certain charges. The point about prices is fair I think, but what bothers me is the fluctuation of prices. Everything seems to be going up in price so rapidly all the time for no real rhyme or reason.

I think of it as a kind of wobble or turbulence as the climate is knocked off its course. There's a series of vacillations between extremes of all kinds.
