Barrel length for shooting medium to long range.? I'm about to purchase a remington 700 sps in .308, but my barrel choices are a 20 inch bull, or a 24 inch heavy barrel. Right now I'm only going to be shooting at up to 500 yards, but I plan on shooting...

The problem you need to keep in mind for long range shooting....
Barrel for medium range shooting and the stubby barrel is less likely than longer tubes to get hung up Range in 7mm Rem Mag for both elk and long range matches.

Remington 700 but it WOULDNT be an SPS model..No way .
I would also consider the Model 70 Winchester which isn't listed .
I'd go for the Savage with an Accutrigger.
