The 'battle' between midwives and doulas I do not consider myself lucky in any way shape or form but, other health care professionals do.
They consider me lucky because I've never worked with a 'bad' doula, the very term makes me shiver.

The rates seem to max out after that point.
A doula with 5+ years runs $1200-$1800+.
I live outside of DC.
We paid $900 for a doula with 3 years of experience (oh, + $50 for photographs).

We're not going the doula route b/c i'd rather just have dh and the medical team there.

One doula didn't seem like someone who was easy to talk to or that put together....
I needed to find one that fit my personality.
I didn't want to meet the doula at the hospital/birth.
Two doulas for me was distance from my house.

Are you sure your doctor is behind you on having a doula? Yes, actually, he was very supportive.
It seems like doctors are pretty willing to stretch the 'medical necessity" to meet FSA.

i chose my doula for my first vbac doula since we moved back to texas, so....
