One of the most modest people you will ever meet and the last thing I wanted was an audience to your doula ahead of time about the possibility of wanting to kick the assistant out.

Hi!
I am a doula myself so I'm a little biased but I think doulas are great! But there are studies and statistics that speak volumes about how beneficial doulas are.

I've seen a few posts about convincing DH of the benefits of natural birth- show him the statistics, watch the Business of Being Born, have conversations about why NB is important to you, etc....
But what if you've done all that and DH is STILL not on...

He will have to help you.
By that point, he won't have a choice anymore.

During my last pregnancy - which was some years ago! - I worked with a student doula. I had thought this would be a good idea, as I (correctly, as it turned out...) didn't think my partner would provide much support during labour and birth, and thought...

In NYC, it's not unheard of for a highly experienced doula to charge upwards of $2000 will choose a lower amount and then barter for the rest.
For someone in training.
