Dell Dimension 9100 w/ on-board SigmaTel sound. I have a mic plugged in the Rear Mic jack. Everytime I reboot the computer, it default to the "Front Mic". To use the Rear Mic again I have to open the volume control and switch it there to the Rear Mic....

I'm putting together instructions for our users to test their microphones. Vista and 7 changed the Sound Recorder so it doesn't play back sound. Hence it's not good for testing sound (they have to save the file, find it, open it, inevitably get the Windows...

The SM58, apart from being a moving coil rather than a condenser mic, has rolled-off bass, especially if there are three singers and ....
Enough yet to get this, but with 3 singers on one mic wouldn't you want a wide cardioid pattern noise.

If it's not that - I remember having a similar problem a while back the mic).
If you're lucky, it's just feedback from the mic setting being so sensitive that it's picking up when you turn the mic on.

My brother just bought a pair of usb headphones/ mic to play a game. He really only wants to use the mic portion of the unit and leave the speakers.
Does anyone know of any setting that would could account for the usb headphones "muteing" the speakers...
