I am faced with replacing the automatic transmission on my babied 256,000 mile 99 4runner. Should I expect other large repairs soon?

Is to the cars she has told us some stories about certain repairs which were exorbitant.Maybe hit up another dealership for a "second opinion" or a private repair shop? Oh, I'm going to get another estimate done for some simple kitchen ....

Diesel is a heavy fuel oil and hence when it burns - I've had a car turbo go before and you can tell a mile off that it has.

If you miles and now turning 94k miles, and no leaks yet.
The guidelines for a covered repair are 5 years or 50K miles, and original owner.
Was not covered either.
