What would the serial number prefix be for a military issued springfield model 1911-A1 pistol ?

The left sides of the receivers were marked ....
The serial numbers for the Springfield Armory M1911 pistols ranged between 72,571 and 133,186 there was no prefix.
The 1911-A1 was never manufactured by Springfield Armory, they only produced 1911's .

For some reason I cannot explain, C&R surplus pistols have no appeal to me. I'm enamored with military surplus rifles and love collecting the usual suspects - Mausers, Swiss K31, SKS, etc. To me, those rifles have class and history. But the pistols......
