Well worth to hear tat u enjoy ur U3011 with MBP 2011 via mini dp-dp cable.
Mini via thunderbolt output and the image quality is 100% similar to the origin Apple cable.

I want to buy a 30" monitor to go with my new MacBook pro, but the 30" monitor in the Apple store seems to use a dual link DVI connection (which requires a $100 adapter).
Are there any 30" monitors that use mini DisplayPort?

You can use DVI to Mini Display Port Converter made by Atlona.
If you are using apple's 24 inch mini adapter available that I know of.

There is cable for it, but this is male to male cable .

Plus with using the Rowmote app which runs off WiFi we put the mini in the other room.
It was cheaper top.
Up biting the bullet and getting a mac mini and us it solely for entertainment...

Every time I read a review or an unboxing of a GPU the presence of displayports or mini-displayports always seems to be a bit of a pain.
I'm curious, does anyone here actually use DisplayPort or is it a pain in the arse?

Err no, not sure if I even have a cable! Displayport is currently the only "common" socket type I don't have in my crates of cables.
HDMI has limits and DisplayPort is royalty free afaik.
Yeah, it should technically take off quite soon.

I have a MacBook Pro and have just bought an external monitor with VGA input.
I was going to buy a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter but then I thought it would be better if I could have HDMI as well so i can show off my Mac through my HDMI TV....

MDP > VGA are you saying i can't use the mdp to hdmi adapter but with 2 separate leads for the 2 external displays? I don't believe they make a y-splitter .
You'd have to have two separate adapters.

Well I always thought I had a Mini Display port on the back of my iMac but alas it is a Mini DVI so this will not work for me.
Cost me 35+ shipping, I will sell it for 35 cash. I am located in Hamilton but do go to Toronto once in a while.
