If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician .
You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera .
This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum .

and I heard that switching brands of tapes (sony - panasonic) is bad because of theyre different lubricants
is that true?

I'm having trouble finding a battery for my Sony Mini-DV Handycam DCR-HC85.
