Im using magix and it allows me to select hdv camera ... .
I connect to the hvd/dv port using the small in 1080i hd on the cam, but it will only let me transfer in dv (720 x 570).
Really new to mini dv and dont know what im at.

Anyone got one of the mini DV cams (the thumb size clone of the Muvi). If so, do you find it takes forever to charge on the PC USB port and needs a mains mini USB supply instead?
I just got one and it seems to take 10 or more hours...

PC USB ports have a technical output current limitation of 500mA per port (part of the USB specs that they shouldn't put out more current than that) .

I recently record an event on my Canon XHA1 onto a mini DV tape. The first 10 minutes recorded just fine but after that, during playback or capture, the footage freezes every second. No more than one second plays or captures at a time.

Also , and you may of course know this, best to stick to one brand of tape per camcorder .
John Try a cleaning tape.
Though I have never heard of this problem I do however wonder if it relates to dirty or clogged heads .
