See my commit in this GitHub repo for a fix I had to make to git-p4 to work with an old version of p4 .
If you have a direct perforce workspace then p4 info will tell you what the version of the server is .

Basically you want to set your solution offline, then bring it online while connected to the proper Codeplex server .
The easiest way is to exploit VS 2008's "online" feature .

After installing both 14.2 and 14.2.1, Sync Services remains missing. There are no selections available, all blank. Consequently, sync of iPhone results in all contacts and calendars being washed off iPhone. How to correct?

If none are set....
If you have other Identities you need to check to see if Sync Services is still selected.
Only one Outlook Identity on a computer can be set to sync.

The "Missing" Files that your car plays are the "Deleted" files.
