For many years most people assumed that the money they had in a MMF was almost as safe as having it in a US Gov. bond or an insured bank account. It really wasn't as safe but the added convenience and generally favorable return seemed to more than compensate...

Stock prices is when there are 'creations' and 'redemptions' made with the fund by certain market collectively buy $1B of total market funds in a day, that means buy order will be placed for all stocks.

Our 401K basket of funds switched over to almost all Vanguard funds...looks like they're all index funds.
All of the funds have restrictions of one sort or another, with VTSGX Total International Stock Index being the only one, I think, that has a must...

Many firms are waiving part of their normal ER for money market funds just to prevent of that increase may NOT go to those holding MM funds, rather to the fund sponsors unless competitive pressures ask....

Money market funds were created as an attempt , and earn 10% on the float.
