So lately all I've been seeing in the monk forums is people qq'ing about not being able to run head first into a pack of mobs and take em out with a couple of Spirit gen attacks and move on and get epic l00tz for smashing their face against the keyboard...

Nothing below 20 goes above +3 goes above +3 (Shroud of the Abbot nonwithstanding).
There are 3-4 epic items with natural armor +5 or +6 .
