Lead vox -center
Back vocals -centered or maybe 10-15% L or R
Bass -center
Kick -center
Snare -center
Hi hats -30% L
Ride - ...

Sure I might, like everything else, it varies from song to song .
Hi Chuck
How I see it;
I treat panning similar to how I see the musicians on stage.

Hi guys,
Currently using logic and looking to split up my bass sound so that everything above 200hz is in stereo and slightly panned left/right and everything below 200hz remains in mono (with a seperate sine osc for my sub).
I was wondering how you guys...

Send worrying about it and make your track! Unless....
You can keep your original bass channel mono.
Or the odd time I do anything like that is simply to use a send on your bass channel .
The frequency cutoff and it mono-ises everything below it.

I frequently come across discussion regarding phase/polarity cancellations and mixing in mono vs stereo. Although I have not experimented very much with panning sounds as a method of making instruments fit better in the mix, Ive been wanting to ask some...

I certainly don't like my mixes to sound....
But panning is the thing I find to be very troublesome for me.
If I pan when it comes to mixing.
But I would really like to learn the "rules" on what works and what does not with panning.

So when I work on my own music for clients, I hardly ever hard pan since it just seems to sound odd. Too far left and right tend to keep to 45% in Logic.
I always read people saying they do guitars hard left and right but I hardly hear it, especially ...

The fact they're nothing in the middle vocal wise makes hard panning sound strange.

I panned the vocal to the center, but after burning to cd and listening on my home stereo, the vocal is clearly panned to the right. I checked my home stereo and it's set to the center. I've noticed this before on copied tracks, where I pan one hard left...

If you, and pan on equally left and right, at the same levels, the right on is clearly louder.

Rob, push the red panning knob and then the button over the stereo fader.
Can't pan it.

I have a quick question here:
I just came across a BD-release that shows here that it has 'LPCM Mono'.
No, I don't have this BD (yet), so I can't try it out.
But I was really wondering, if it's mono, and you have a speaker-setup that's more than 2.1, ...

Usually you can set mono signal to play through the center speaker or you can set the receiver to play mono signal through the front left and right speakers.
Depends on how you set your receiver to play mono signal.

Corrected some problems and switched to the Rayleigh IDT algorithm.

What I want ultimately is something that models the ambiophonic 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0... .
Otherwise you end up with opposite effect you should get by panning and end up with a mono source with adding HRTFs in the pan path.
