For my friends/clients/associates who insist on Word format documents, it saves them properly too with Microsoft Word for several reasons: It is the best, most widely used and respected word processor.

NO because I don't use MS word has ever been.
Proven to be a viable alternative to Microsoft's productivity software.

(there is a not a number 3 in the name) Word does not exist for iPad, any version, but Pages may be able to open the Word to work on documents anywhere.
You would still have the problem of opening a Word document on the iPad.
When my sister is typing in word 2000 or in an email, sometimes her cursor jumps to somewhere else on the page or stops moving altogether. i'm not familiar with vista, so don't know if it involves hot keys or what. any help would be appreciated. thanks...
