I've been type 2 for 6 years and my bg's go up and down. I've always had Aviva test strips on presciption and test 2 or 3 times a day, depending. Anyway, a call to the surgery this morning to enquire why there are no strips in my 2 months worth of medication...

A fair number....
Although the NHS is funded by tax-payers so in a way we do pay whenever I've needed it.
For the NHS! I would say it does the best it can considering it has waaaay too many managers who and insulting as you say.
