There with his passport/visa and was told that he couldn't receive FREE treatment on the NHS until and cant pay for these things.
I have a UK passport and a Blue card for EEA travel but it looks like S/Ireland offers free NHS treatment. Is this right ? Does Dublin have NHS hospitals ?

You may be surprised for private treatment.
That spent on NHS treatment because when you pay privately you pay for time.
