Dental bridges on NHS?
If you have lost the teeth due to gum disease then clinically you may not be suitable for a bridge or you may need treatment to sort this out first. The dentist may not refer you for a bridge if you do not meet certain clinical criteria.
If a patient is referred to our local dental hospitals with gum disease they are simply sent back to the referring dentist for gum treatment. I also have to say simple bridges such as you are asking for would also be referred back to the dentist .

IVF should it be given on the NHS?
I think quite possibly, yes, though anyone applying for IVF on the NHS should first be made to seriously consider adoption. Quite how to make people "seriously consider adoption" I don't know, perhaps some sort of family counsellor or something, but I think it's more important to first home those who have no-where to go bar the state than it is to bring more people into the world.

How long have KG Members had to wait under the NHS for knee surgery?
Nick - you really should have got a letter stating that your os had placed you on the waiting list and an indication of how long the wait is ! I would make that phone call sooner than later - you need to speak to the planned care team to find out and if thy have pencilled in date for you soon then you can change it more to suit you now - because its not just you they need to slot in and obviously the more info they have as to when you would prefer it being done the better - thi is why they call it planned care !

NHS uses smokers' lungs in transplants?
I had to admit I was fairly surprised that the NHS used lungs from smokers in their organ donation program. I thought being a smoker would have made your lungs totally unsuitable for transplant.

NHS Agenda for Change - really fed up - anyone with any expertise?
When filling out review form manager was involved and also union and staff side rep at an informal meeting prior to submitting review. They were all helpful, pointed out which sections to concentrate on to match to the higher band national profile. Manager signed off additional information submitted no problem. Got extra points for some of the sections which now match the higher band post. The thing is they seem to have taken no account whatsoever of the 2 main sections - 2 and 12 if I remember correctly, education and freedom to act which HAVE to match. Same points came back although additional information should, I would have thought, taken it to the higher band.
