Our pool alkalinity level is at least 240 (per the test strip) and it stays there no matter what I do. I've added about 8 lbs of reducer over time, to lower alkalinity, it doesn't touch it. However, pH still stays at 7.4-7.8. I can add a bag of shock ...

I'm trying to buffer and neutralize a very acidic solution by adding the acidic solution into a buffer. However, using 1 M PO4 buffer is not strong enough and requires an enormous volume. Calculating 10 M sodium phosphate buffer requires crazy amounts...

What I have been doing is calculating....
Too high of a pH and it is too soluble in water; too low and it precipitates out and is difficult to get back in.
I can extract it into organic solvents but I need a pH between 7-8 for maximal extractability.

Will check the in and out....
Quite unusual as I always thought celite is very inert .
Two issues - one could be tannins - which NaOH won't bleach and would require at leat UF to remove some change in pH thereby having an influene on the color.

I'm not even gonna go into plugging when you're confused about PH and chemicals like NAOH and HCL, both of these can be very dangerous.
Too long to me.
