And if all of those don't work, then reboot and at the grub menu, select the second, Probably sudo apt-get remove --purge nautilus sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nautilus.
That shows the menus.
I notice when I right click on a file in Nautilus, the rename item in the context menu is greyed out, even though it still works. Is this specific to my setup or does anyone else see this. Forget it. Bug is already reported. https://bugs.launchpad.net...

The application menu items are staying in the application window the rename option is greyed out cannot be ....
Context menu options in nautilus, (greyed out but functional), has been occurring since early Feb you what I am noticing.

This is not a solution for creating it automatically using Nautilis but you could potential create a few of them on a share and copy them to each desktop .
You could create a new shortcut and prefix it with smb://[server]/[path] .

You want to shortcut to, then choose bookmarks from the menu, then add bookmark.
