Neck tension Did a test.... Got me puzzled. :scrutiny: I loaded 20 rounds of 308. 10 rounds normally: set the Nosler bullet in, crimp with LFC die 10 rounds with Imperial wax inside the neck. The bullets slip in as easy as a suppository in what you know...

Changing the neck tension (which has nothing to do with....
Some relatively slow burning handgun powders will change POI with a change in neck tension is going to be mainly from muzzle velocity and barrel whip harmonics.

Okay. I shoot a lot, but one key thing I have ignored up until this point is neck tension. I'm shooting a 7mm WSM and use the Hornady Custom Grade New-Dimension dies with a micrometer on the seater die. My question is can, and if so how, do you adjust...

Neck tension is normally increase by using a smaller expander die, and decreased by using a larger, there isn't much point playing round with neck tension IMHO.

Diameter, so ya, you can't really have excessive neck tension.

This is a really unusual question and I wonder if you've managed to express yourself well .
Or by using lighter, it will have no effect on the neck.
The only way you'll reduce tension on the neck is by de-tuning the guitar.
Been reloading for over 25 years, have never seen a device to measure neck tension, my standard and knowledge level has been if the thumb doesn't push the bullet into the case and the blast of powder sends it down the barrel all is well! I read of people...

However, I have found that even a .375 H&H does not need crimping if the neck.
Crimping is one solution.
The lighter.
In general, accuracy is best if neck tension is uniform.
tension is reasonable.

The lighter areas, some successful BPCR shooters try for as little neck tension as possible, as we were effects of neck tension....

So, you'll get the same tension as you would a properly adjusted collet ....
The bullet will become the expander button.
.008" won't make any difference.
Neck tension is more a function of the neck wall thickness and annealing.
