It also makes upgrading an expensive proposition.
Sense from a business standpoint because they are expensive and if they go bad you have to replace the whole thing.

Anecdotal, but my Corsair SSD has been perfect right out of the box for about two months now. Cold boot to Windows login in 11 seconds.

Both of my children have good spec laptops, and I have always had an emotional attachment to the main family computer being a desktop....

I would look at ION boards with integrated graphics for a media PC....
Noisy for a bedroom but not noticeable during playback - I'll replace the fans at some point it will be totally silent.

I just bought a nettop. It came with WinXP Home. I first installed Win 7 on it. I wasn't that happy with the performance so I decided to go back to XP. I am using an external dvd drive and a Win XP Pro disc.

Of your nettop will have a drivers disk that you can burn to CD and when windows setup loads, you press automatically detected HDD drives.
