YUI Compressor was the consensus best tool for minimizing, but Closure seems like it could be better.

That's not to say you shouldn't use Closure between YUI Compressor and Closure Compiler....
Whereas Closure is new to us - so there isn't the wealth of experience with Closure on people's experiences with it simply because it's new.

I'm looking to replace the round GMC factory a/c compressor that came with the 1977 VEGA.
Any suggestions on a 'replacement A/C compressor' that will work on the VEGA?
Will I need new mounting brackets, etc. for the comprerssor?

I did our old shop the same way.
Put a drain leg in at the low point.
Start low at the compressor and run lines up hill.
T storage.
The main line should start high near the compressor ans slope down as it runs away from it.

Save your money and buy a real air compressor compressor.
220v is the way to go.
You will need a 2 stage compressor and something in the 60-80 gallon range, probably 5hp.
That will keep up that won't be running all the time .

Has the system been converted to R134 yet? Did the old compressor tear up? There are other considerations besides just changing the compressor.
