When opening a new monitor I am amazed that the VGA cable is always attached. Even with new high end monitors that include Display Port and DVI cables the old VGA cable is always attached while the others are just left in the box.

Dual monitor - two thin windows, with things like Ultramon , you can have another taskbar on the second monitor.
It's much easier to manage windows.

Well, simple situation. Is it possible to detect if a user has a dual monitor setup from a web application? If this is possible, is it possible to open a child browser page on this second monitor, so the new window doesn't overlap the old one?

I don't think you'll be able to directly detect a dual monitor setup, but you can probably make about resolution, the only way to display the page on the other monitor would be to open a popup on the second monitor in a decent size....
