I understand there isn't a way to interrogate a users IE settings directly due to security reasons, but is there a way to derive this answer with some other mechanism? I would like to stop a user from using my site if the setting "Check for newer versions...

This can be done without having to completely - but people were rarely willing to upgrade their browser just to view a web-site more easily.
And that they might get a better experience with a newer browser.

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to determine the height/width of a browser. What i'm trying to do is set a height on a div to 500px when the browser size is 1024x768, and for anything lower i'd like to set it to 400px.

I don't know the specifics of the browsers you are using, but I do know that most of the big sites will detect your OS + browser in browser.
