You could also parse the feeds with PyRSS2Gen.
I don't know if this is quite what you want, but you could look into Yahoo Pipes .

For example, I keep getting news headlines from FOXNews. I don't really consider FOXNews to be real "news," and I would like to personalize Google News so that I do not get any of their stories. Is this possible?

While there's not currently a good way to remove a specific source from News, you can create 2.

They're both biased.
I'll go with Fox news as the more reliable.
The Onion on a story.
I would think that the Onion is much more fact based, and much less biased than Fox News.

I fould Wordpress to be more strightforward to use, and easier source code was relatively easy to work....
Recommend WordPress - with a proper theme and copy it can look more "news" than just "blog source and have a good user experiece.

But at the same time I know plenty of people who think that Fox News and MSNBC are the gospel truth.
I usually read and watch a good mix of news sources in order to get to the truth.
