I primarily use nested classes for fine-tuning access to the nested and/or the container class.

The advantage of this over using classes of style I'd say.

I'm using LINQPad to create LINQ queries in an application I'm bulding.
I noticed that in the downloaded LINQ in Action samples, e.g. example 4.04, intellisense shows a class "Books" but I don't see any references or " using " statements in the LINQPad...

There's nothing wrong with copying fields from one class to another, and the performance penalty incurred by wrapper class casting from object to Guid or bool is likely to be so tiny that its negligible.
