Couple weeks ago I talked to several local aquarium stores. I gave both of them a sample of my water and their test results are the same as my test results.
Anyway, both of the "expert" told me to do 30% water change everyday until the nitrite and nitrate...

Hello everybody,
I was reading somewhere that as leaves decompose in water they lower the level of nitrates in the water. I can't find the article now, nor can I find anything else backing the claim. Does anybody here have any idea what I am talking about...

Bacteria and other things will grow on the leaf and break... .
If you have a cycled tank they shouldn't leech any ammonia fast enough to have much of an effect .
I don't think they would lower nitrates - they would raise them as they decompose, probably.

10-20 ppm Potassium.
The behavior to the Nitrate readings, I knew the ammonia was the culprit and my Nitrite reading was 0, skim off about 25% or so.)
And then test again, of course! 10 - 20 ppm Nitrate
1 - 3 ppm Phosphate.

I currently have a 50 gallon turtle tank and 10g tank connected to a fluval 305. The outflow is connect to the 10g which drains into my 50g.
My current water parameters (after a WC) are:
Ph: 6.8
Ammonia:0
No2:0
No3:20ish ppm
Lighting: 2x 14watt cfl 55...

I have had this tank couple of years now , it has live rock , and live sand in it. I have had a nitrate issue for a while, this is what I have done thus far.
