Hi! We had our nuchal scan today and learned that we are having identical twins! Very exciting news. But then came some scarey information.

How many of you did the 12 week nuchal scan where they check the fold in the neck for Downs Syndrome? Is it really needed if I am 28 years old and have no family history of the disease?? My mom thinks its nuts for me to do this and I just want to know...

On what your PCT (primary care trust )offers
Most areas offer a 12 week dating (+/-) nuchal scan fold and get nuchal scan and bloods done.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and had my scan yesterday. My baby's nuchal fold measurement was 1.7. Does anyone know if that's good or not? I'm sat waiting by the phone in case they ring me with bad results combined with my bloods and age. (34) thanks all.

I am no doctor, but I asked the scan lady if that was ok - she said.
With a measurement of 1.6mm.

We are going back and forth on whether or not we are going to do the nuchal translucency screening or not.
Has anyone done it? Planning on doing it? Thoughts?

A lot of people get false positives or they're considered high risk for those abnormalities but go on to have healthy babies. Don't beat yourself up with grief Grief and regret. Take this one step at a time and don't conjure up the worst-case-scenarios...

I am soo scared going for more testing the nuchal screening since I'm only 32 and had no other history or markers.
I had my nt scan and my babies measurment was 11.4mm.

We are waiting it out (bc of ramnio risk to twins) and I am now 23 weeks .

She went on to have an uneventful pregnancy and a healthy little girl...hoping the same for you! I had the same thing with my now 5 year old .
My sister has a large NT measurement and then an anmio which was negative .
