I get a desktop notification in Gnome telling me that my hard disk may be failing when I log in and that my disk has many bad sectors.
The disk is a 6 or 7 month old sata drive. The model is a Seagate ATA ST3300620AS.

I've read other Tech Support on the entering sector problems and it doesnt seem to be that related to mine.
It's not just one sector that I cant enter. It just happens randomly. When it crashes and I try to enter the sector again, I'm able to. Other threads...

- Update your Realtek drivers from the Realtek site ( not using Windows Update)

to put out bad sector messages, then discard it.
Dd if=/dev/adX of=/dev/null skip=4294967295.
From that sector to tell the drive to try to remap it again.
