I'm finally sorting out some old software, mostly games, that I've kept for too long. Are there companies or groups that specialize in older software, or is my best bet to go item by item on eBay/Craigslist?

For console games, you might want to try a place like GameStop where they buy back preowned games..
Maybe a few bucks out of it.
If it's old or obscure enough, I usually just throw it away.
Much for them anyway.

Quickest thing to do on Windows for old games is to install DosBox , I have never used it on OSX needing to fire up anything from Vmware!
They have a huge database of games that have been tested on it, and Descent (one and two) are....

There are many classic Windows games I still have copies of that I like to take out every once in a while and play. A lot of these are multiplayer LAN games that only work over IPX-based networking which would normally rule out playing them with friends...

Spyro 3,Spiderman 1 and Ace Combat 2 are my favorite Ps1 games :D
