Any ideas? Looking for some great days out in the North West with a historical focus plus some old fashioned style hotels in the countryside with easy access to places of interest.

Would the North West include North Wales, but a good place to base yourself for the likes of Preston,Garstang ( lovely old town) Kirkham etc, an old textile factory/workhouse....

Why do people say old houses make noises? In any case that someone states that my house made this noise or that noise. People responses are "well houses make noises" or you are imagining stuff. That's not true I lived in houses that wouldn't made an unexplained...

So, yea, it is normal....
My 30-year-old home "pops" whenever the temperature drops below -20 at the wall.
Most hose noises (new and old) are explained by the expansion or contraction of the materials be generated (hence, an older home).

I was waiting long time to come from other side and do this photo, where are houses, small river, bridge, sun in the trees and mountains. All crowd is together.

My agent told me one house I'm trying to look at was built in sixties with lead paint. Should the seller disclose such information in his/her listing? I guess most people will rethink about the houses if they do have lead paint.

It is better to be safe than sorry.
Paint is a hazard of old houses, new houses have other problems -- the widespread use of carpets in 70s from houses that could potentially have lead paint.
