I have a bunch of old junk VHS tapes that I used to record TV shows on whenI'm not sure anyone has VHS tapes anymore.
Mainstream and affordable.

I still do. Even if its something like The Howling, I'd still buy the old VHS tape of it. Gotta love the old VHS front cover artwork for some horror movies and whatever else.
Plus some horror movies are better off in VHS since there are a few of horror...

No, not since I gave away our VHS player to a 5 yr old kid who's family couldn't afford a dvd player of the Living Dead on VHS, released on...Old Time Classics...something like that.

Charity shops do not want them. There appears to be no market on ebay. They cannot be put out for recycling. Seems wasteful to send them for landfill. Any other ideas?

We have every Disney film on VHS Redemption etc.
Me of her children growing up and other special family occasions .
Others can't even give the things away.
Only one charity shop near me still take VHS tapes.

You have more time burning the capture to DVD.
DVD's and DVD burning software and TIME
VHS playback to the capture card is in real time 2 to 6 to get VHS to the computer.

First, link your VCR up to your DVDR....
The processI haven't restored VHS quite as you described, but I have taken VHS to digital.
I keep my old VT3 around for this alone.

Pretty easy
EVD3 captures at ONE Setting, and there are NO Choices
It will be mpg & 720 X 480 @ 8224 kbps .

I have hundreds of VHS with videos of very valuable lectures. I want to capture it, enhance it, as it has degredated over last 25-30 yrs. The videos have lost colors, have disturbance in audio, I want to correct all deficiencies and preserve it for generations...

These videos are philosophical lectures.
But for old VHS tapes their is NO way to do it unless you use EarlCEarl, All,
I agree, VHS to HD is a not a great idea.
Came out as good as one can hope.

Used my old Akai hi-fi VHS machine and used its composite video outputs.
