I don't know if email marketing is available in the open source version though.
Take a look at SugarCRM.

Any Joe Blow can write a handy application and release it as open source but what's the point unless other users (to make the project worth while) and programmers (to improve the project) can find it.

Google Code is another option for release, I'm sure there are others .

All of them use the same trick.

Essentially, people put up an amount of resources, and ask for an amount of another resource in return.

While many free and good CMS ( Wordpress, joomla, drupal Umbraco, dot net nuke) available in the market then why many people , companies , client prefer Commercial CMS ( Expression engine, Sitecore etc ) and invest so much money to buy and maintenance...

Just in case another topic in here is a tad misleading, although the rides have now closed at Fantasy Island a good percentage of the market will still be open at the weekends throughout Nov and into Dec.
The only time it all closes for several weeks ...
