O2 is Oxygen, is carbon dioxide made up of Oxygen and some thing else ?

Carbon dioxide is CO2 so it is composed of two oxygen atoms bonded to a single carbon atom Yes Yes Carbon as 'C ' is also in the Carbon Dioxide molecule as CO2 ( the dioxide is the O2 ' Di ' means 2).

If Oxygen is always written as O2 then why is water written H20 instead of H2O2? O2 and H2O as the symbols for the elements.

O2 is one type of oxygen gas, a molecule of two oxygen atoms stuck together....
Because O2 is oxygen, water is H2 + O, O can be known as Monoxide, so the technical name for water of the element are present in the molecule.

I use one of those disposable oxygen tanks to oxygenate my wort and have always though at $10 a tank I should always keep a spare around. My first tank lasted 15 5 gallon batches, this new one only last five and at a horrible time.
