This is the cause for windows bluescreening and there is not really a way round it other then re-installing windows .
You have encountered the main problem with changing motherboards, the disk controller being different.
I would love to have a central place where information about all PC parts are kept. Even better if the whole database can be downloaded as CSV and analysed using R or SAS.

While not exhaustive, or necessarily that up-to-date....
If you're comfortable scripting, it wouldn't be hard to crawl NCIX, NewEgg, or your site de jour with WWW::Mechanize (or its equivalent), but I can't exactly recommend it, ethically .

It's hard to say any more without knowing what motherboard it is.
Be pins for S/PDIF on the motherboard, but I expect they would be labeled as such.
