How I can get the number of pages in a PDF document ? The document can have images too, and text in different font size. It should work with different PDF document versions.
The answer can be in any scripting language, I will port them later to Ruby.

Then, use the plugin to attach/execute some 'Javascript for pdf' to the loaded document which will return the number of pages.
Plugin for the browser load the pdf document.

Some of my co-workers put almost everything in the SVN-repository. That makes me mad, because there are several >10MB pdfs in there, and every time I checkout the whole project I have to download those.
In my opinion they are misusing the repository...

That way you can track the changes made to the PDF....
This is the rule that R uses for itsI don't see any problem with versioning a PDF if it could ever change.
Systems you are using them on, you should version the pdf.

Yes, it is very possible for a PDF to contain text on one page but not the rest.
Try this version of Searcharoo , which lets you search Word and PDF documents.

You could do this again with imagemagick, but there are other scanned images and pdf files....
Convert each page of text back into pdf.
Pass each image.
Will be 1 jpg file for each page in your pdf, myfile-00.jpg, myfile-01.jpg, etc.

I have around 10 System.Drawing.Bitmap elements, which I want to dump to PDF. When combining them to a single bitmap, and then writing this to PNG, this takes me about 150 ms.

So, I've got a PDF file that's generated by a program that uses the Base 14 fonts, so that it contains "Helvetica" and "Times Roman". When I look at that in my copy of Acrobat 7.0 on Windows (for example), it shows these with Arial and Times New Roman...

InDesign only imports PDF files as though they were graphics, and ....
In order to embed a font in a PDF document you must have that font available on your system to open and edit PDF files, so you'd probably have more luck with that.

I see that others were having this problem and I've tried to insert an image (.jpg) and then print the page or download to PDF but Google Docs continuously leaves the image out as if it was not there. Any suggestions?
